Presentation transcript:

What is VLE? The virtual learning environment is a web based learning platform that can be accessed by staff and pupils at anytime in and out of school that runs parallel to the official school web site. The MOODLE site is totally secure – only staff and pupils can log on using their normal Bucks username and password. This online space can be used to create, store and deliver a whole range of teaching and learning activities from blogs and forums to quizzes and videos! Each department and key stage have a designated area with a member of staff assigned the responsibility of developing resources.

Cottesloe Arts College Learning Environment (CLE) Virtual Learning Environment. learning.cottesloe.bucks.sch.uk/ Cottesloe Arts College Learning Environment (CLE) What is VLE? How can VLE improve teaching and learning? How can new staff access the VLE? Using the VLE.

How can VLE improve teaching and learning? A wide variety of teaching and learning activities can be posted onto the site for pupils to use in class or at home. For example: Quizzes can be set for homework – pupils log on, try the quiz (which is marked on line), and the result is stored saving us time marking and checking who has done homework for us. Pupil’s work can be posted in a forum where pupils can mark or comment upon each others work…easy assessment for learning! Gifted and Talented pupils can be stretched through targeted homework tasks… and less able pupils can be encouraged to log on to access extra support. Video clips and news feeds can be posted, encouraging pupils to read more widely and become more independent learners – they could even post news stories themselves!
