Vision and Objectives Green Learning Network (GLN) will address the disconnect between Agriculture, Biodiversity and Rural (ABR) education and practice by creating a network of educators, agriculture professionals, institutions, learners and user communities in Lifelong Learning 5 The GLN aims at creating:  Interdisciplinary Integrated Learning  Innovative Virtual Collaboration  Practical Business Instruction for Farmers  Educational Scenarios  Pedagogical Best Practice Repository  Green ePortfolio Network

GLN overview 6

GLN features 1) The GLN portal – will be an innovative platform with social features to support stakeholders’ collaboration, which will form the hub of the GLN network. 2) Inquiry Based Educational Scenarios - will allow connecting the experiences of ABR professionals with learners in the field through an innovative and practical methodology, speaking directly to the current situation facing ABR. 3) Repository of best practices in ABR education - will position the project as a central hub for access to green learning repositories throughout Europe. 7

Target Users 8

Approach 9

Network Building Events and Green Ideas Fest - GLN will establish a strong presence in the rural communities that are often overlooked by events of this nature Annual Summer School - will act as an opportunity to connect with educators over a long period of time, generating participation in the activities of the network and creating through these educators contact with a network of learners. Affiliation Network - will be created as a sustainable hub through a strong network of affiliations with projects and institutions working in the field of ABR education Living Roadmap - The GLN Living Roadmap will be updated every year containing all related information and even the identification of further European contexts into which the insights of GLN are taken. 10

Maintenance Strategy 11 Platform - The infrastructure of the network, including its knowledge generation and its learning repository, will continue to provide value and participation for the stakeholders of the network. Working Groups of specific areas and ePortfolios – User generated content in the area specific working groups and ePortfolios will be self-sustained by the users as the content developed will become an established and valued source of networking and smart partnerships in the ABR and inquiry based education. Green Ideas Events – The Green Idea Fest is already an established event in the field and attracts experts and affiliated partners that can exploit GLN. The events provide critical added value to researchers and businesses alike will be sustained beyond the lifetime of the project by their continued popularity amongst projects and businesses who attend them as indispensable.
