Week 2 Fourth Quarter 2013

English 10: Do Now 4/22/13  Does knowledge come at a price? Can gaining knowledge have negative consequences?  It’s an abstract question, so perhaps try thinking of examples in real life or pop culture where people learned something they thought they wanted to know. (Flowers for Algernon, Homer Simpson when he gets a crayon stuck in his brain, wanting to know the truth about a boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.)

Thursday Homework: copy down these questions  What inference can you make from the fact that it is forbidden to go to the Place of the Gods?  How does John’s journey change his point of view? Give one example of something that John changes his mind about.  How do the readers of this story understand the events better than John? Give at least three examples of facts that the reader understands that John does not.
