4 Telefonica, Investigación y Desarrollo What is genuine in EU FI-PPP Better suited to align with roadmap of product developments by partners:  Industry- and Implementation-driven approach  Results exploitable in the short-medium term (4-5 years) rather than in the long-term (10-15 years) Targeted to attract audience beyond the research community who will be fund to develop applications on top of FI-WARE  Developers  Entrepreneurs  Public Administrations Commitment for exploitation required:  Commercial offer in the short term; or  Delivery of results in open source otherwise

5 Telefonica, Investigación y Desarrollo Ecosystem and platform: two tied concepts 5 Open Standard Platform ecosystem openglobalsustainable

6 Telefonica, Investigación y Desarrollo A successful ecosystem is that one which creates the right incentives to all stakeholders Entrepreneurs, Developers Develop once for a large market Easily meet potential customers Marketing, promotion Ability to test with real data and end users Simple yet powerful APIs that accelerate product development Sponsors (e.g. Cities) Connect to entrepreneurs Put their data at work Bring new innovative services to end users Be more efficient Social Reputation Platform technology Providers Ability to “coopete” Connect to entrepreneurs: jointly exploit the opportunities ecosystem openglobalsustainable
