What are the essentials? NOTES Claim = your stance on an issue. This is your thesis that states where you stand (for, against, etc.) Counterclaim = the opposition’s stance. What does your opposition claim about the issue and why? Counter-argue = proving the opposition wrong. Take their evidence and argue why the don’t know what they are talking about. Fallacies? False research? Call to Action = what needs to happen next with your issue? What do you suggest the audience do to take action?

What else does an argument need? Evidence! Logos – facts, statistics, research-based Pathos – emotional scenarios, guilt, etc. Ethos – credible sources, ethics, etc.
