NEWS FROM THE FIELD  MOLDOVA  Probation is a priority for Justice Policy in the context of the Legal Reform  Goals: reduce overcrowding + modernization + gain public confidence  CROATIA  Young, benefit from the approach to the EU, cooperation with UK and Czech Republic, CoE Rules as a guide, 2013 reduction of offenders in prison.  New law: CSM as an alternative of short sentences  Floods + Post-Traumatic offenders

NEWS FROM THE FIELD  ALBANIA  Very young (2009) and very active, a lot of efforts done  Which is the place for probation?  ROMANIA  Fascinating future: 33% of growing in capacity  The importance of Cooperation with other jurisdictions  SLOVENIA  Need for a unique Agency, but preserving what works: Rate of imprisonment: 67/ (which is really very positive)  Important use of mediation in the whole system
