2 TRANSMONEE: Information system for social inclusion of children and women Brings together in a single information system national statistical information relevant to the welfare of children, young people and women Population, Natality Child and maternal mortality Life expectancy and adult mortality Family formation Health, Education Child protection (parental and residential care, foster homes, etc.) Crime (against children, juvenile crimes and sentencing, etc.) Economy Gender sensitive data whenever possible 2

12 Lost in the Justice System 2008 highlighted a grave lack of data on juvenile justice as one of main issues to be addressed: Revision of our regional database TransMonEE Capacity development of countries to measure Juvenile Justice indicators (recently for South Eastern European countries) 12

13 Regional Study on JJ indicators 2009 13 Objective: Assess applicability and relevance of international and regional indicators. Develop more robust and relevant data collection and management systems.

19 Way forward Unique information system focused on children related issues in the region, especially when it comes to child protection and juvenile justice Continuous work in progress to monitor children related inequities o To fill data gaps o To adapt the framework o To strengthen partnerships 19
