What is an Instructional Designer????

An Instructional Designer… Is a person who provides support for your efforts in providing challenging and productive learning experiences for all students….

An Instructional Designer… Follows a systematic process to help faculty make sound decisions in determining the who, what, where, when, and why of teaching online courses.

Elements of Instructional Design Include…. Analyzing student needs Determining goals and objectives Selecting teaching strategies Developing course materials Evaluating student performance

My role here at MEC: Work with the Dean of Academic Information Services and the Title V Director to provide support for alternative delivery instruction and materials

…and…. Provide support for faculty involvement in developing strategic plans for online instruction and alternative delivery methods

….and…. Stay current with emerging technologies in order to effectively reengineer traditional classroom strategies for Web-enhanced and Web-based courses….

…and… Assist faculty in the development and design of course materials that relate to appropriate use of technology in the classroom..

…and…. Advise faculty in the pedagogical issues and skills unique to non- traditional and alternative delivery instruction, including online and hybrid courses…
