Our Projects Ideal projects for our team: –Have a high student enrollment –Allow several instructors to use the same materials and serve as content experts –Are courses that are required for certification or transfer and have instructional or learning challenges that mean retention and/or student success is low –Have components that can be used and reused by many instructors in a variety of courses –Solve a critical need or worker shortage such as health care workers etc.

Our Process 1 Consult & Identify 2 Create Design Document 3 Develop Prototype 4 Develop Product 5 Use, Evaluate & Revise

Consult and Identify 1.A meeting takes place with member(s) of ID group to discuss teaching and learning issues and brainstorm solutions 2.Once a project is identified, the instructional development group meets to discuss workload and scope 3.The instructional designer discusses project scope with faculty member

Our Process 2 Create Design Document 1 Consult & Identify 3 Develop Prototype 4 Develop Product 5 Use, Evaluate & Revise

Create Design Document 1.The instructional development group creates a document detailing The components of the project The roles of the instructor(s) The roles of the instructional development group The projected timeline 2.The design document is approved by the instructor(s) before work begins.

Our Process 3 Develop Prototype 1 Consult & Identify 2 Create Design Document 4 Develop Product 5 Use, Evaluate & Revise

Develop Prototype 1.The instructional development group creates necessary starting components of the product as a prototype for future development. 2.Once the instructor approves the prototype, the work is turned over to the instructor who inputs content 3.We evaluate the prototype with sample students, if appropriate. Revisions are made if necessary.

Our Process 4 Develop Product 1 Consult & Identify 2 Create Design Document 3 Develop Prototype 5 Use, Evaluate & Revise

Develop Product 1.Instructor content and instructional development group work comes together in a “final” product. 2.Final product is analyzed for functionality, clarity and consistent look and feel. 3.Another evaluation is conducted if necessary.

Our Process 1 Consult & Identify 2 Create Design Document 3 Develop Prototype 4 Develop Product 5 Use, Evaluate & Revise

Use, Evaluate, and Revise 1.Product is implemented and used by students. 2.Student and instructor feedback is collected and the need for revision is identified. 3.Instructional designer and instructor creates revision plans. 4.Revisions made by appropriate person and final product approved by instructor.

Demonstrating Your Project Upon the completion of your project, the instructional development team may call on you to present your project to your department, division, or others.

What Can We Do For You? Language instructors may be interested in Marcos’ project. We can develop and deliver division or department-based workshop to help integrate technology in curriculum What else?
