Club Philosophy We are dedicated to developing volleyball athletes throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California through a commitment to: – Highly skilled coaching – Dedication to player development – Ability to work with athletes at all skill levels – Flexibility in scheduling and responsive to parent and team desires

What mOcean offers Highest level coaching in Southern Oregon and Northern California Experience and success at all levels of coaching, Middle School to College Coaches with high level of playing experience Resources for all coaches in the club to improve their skills and knowledge base A proven history: More than 22 athletes that have been members of mOcean or the Southern Oregon Volleyball Club competed on college rosters during this past 2 seasons.

What will your Daughter get from club? Improve their overall volleyball skills Improve their knowledge about the game of volleyball Have targeted instruction to improve the skills they are interested in learning (skill specific training) Make new friends that share a common interest Have an opportunity to travel and play clubs from across the west coast

Club Costs Club costs that are paid to the club are one-time payments. There are no extra costs that will be taken by the club at a later date. The club cost of $350 needs to be paid prior to tryout/evaluations as well as the AAU registration cost of $12 (done individually by each family.)

Club Costs Costs cover: – Tryout and Evaluation Registration cost – Uniforms – Team Registration – Training Costs (Coaching and Coaching related materials) – Registration for tournaments – Tournament sanctioning – Facility usage – Equipment – Gym Insurance – Administrative costs

What Local Team Includes 4- 5 tournaments (Held Ashland – Grants Pass Area) 1 -2 practices a week (Held in Ashland – Central Point Area) Uniform: Jersey and Spandex Coaching from a single coach for the duration of the season (some extenuating circumstances may arise but will be rare)

Club Costs Local Teams: – $350 – Additional Registration Fee for AAU membership of $12. (If you have already registered for another sport for the season with AAU the membership will cover you for volleyball as well.)

Season Length Local: – Practices will begin the first week in January – Tournaments will start in mid-January – Season will run until mid-March – Last tournament will be the weekend of March 10 th – 11 th

What is a Travel/Regional Team This is a select level team that gets the opportunity to travel outside of the Southern Oregon Region to gain a higher level of competition. Club Philosophy: This level of team will only be created if there is a group of athletes that will benefit directly from the experience of competing against higher level competition. If a given group would not get the benefit of a higher level of competition, then we would have that team play a local schedule. Facilitating a team of this nature has a high level of cost, so we would hope that it would also give a high level of reward/benefit.

What Travel/Regional Team Includes 3-4 tournaments locally (Held Ashland – Grants Pass Area) 3-4 tournaments out of the area (the area includes Portland – South Bay Area – Reno.) 1-2 (2) practices a week (Held in Ashland – Central Point Area) Uniform: Jersey and Spandex and Travel gear Coaching from a single coach for the duration of the season (some extenuating circumstances may arise but will be rare) USA Volleyball registration cost

Club Costs Travel Teams – Cost will be $1200. – Other costs to take into account with participating on this type of team: Travel to and from tournaments and lodging costs Pay for coaches lodging at tournaments Share in duties at tournaments (duties will be parent meetings for Travel teams)

Season Length Travel: – Practices will begin the first week in January – Tournaments will start in mid-January – Seasons will run until Mid-April

National Team This level of team is available to the highest level of volleyball athlete. Our club has not offered this level team since the season. Like the Regional/Travel team, this team will be made if there is a group of athletes that would benefit from this level of competition. A special rate applies to this level of team due to costs such as air travel.

Practices Times for practices can vary widely, but the club works to set certain limits. – Practices will not start earlier than an hour before the end of athletes’ school day. – Also practices will not run later than 9:00. Typical practices times are 6:00-8:00 and 7:00-9:00 during weekdays and afternoons on weekends. Practice times will vary in length depending on age. – Athletes on teams below 14U will practice about 1:30 – Older athletes will have practices that run in length between 1:45 and 2:15. The days will vary with an attempt to avoid late on Friday and Saturday nights and early on Sunday mornings.

Practices All will be done to minimize the impact of practice location and time, however there can be no guarantees made about practice location and times. Limited gym space can lead to situations where athletes will be asked to practice in a city different than the one in which they live.

Local Tournaments Tournaments will typically begin in the early a.m., (between 8:00-9:00), and run the majority of the day (ending at sometime between 3:00-7:00.) Athletes are expected to stay for the duration of the tournament and expected to stay and complete all team duties: this usually includes officiating after the team has finished playing. Athletes need to stay at the facility and eat at the site.

Travel Tournaments Athletes are expected to arrive in the city where the team is playing the day before the event. Like local, they are expected to stay with team during the playing day. Most Travel Tournaments will be multiple day, between 2 -3 days.

What needs to be complete for Tryouts All athletes need to register with the club and make the payment of $350 Athletes trying out for a travel team only need pay the $350 amount. If an athlete is placed on a travel team, they will begin making payments for travel team.
