ORIGIN Arias & Muñoz is deeply rooted in the region, with the establishment in 1942 of Bufete F. A. Arias in El Salvador, which merged with the Costa Rican firm J.A. Muñoz and P. Muñoz in 1998, to create the current firm.

OUR FIRM Arias & Muñoz Central America is unique in the region; it is the first and only Central American law firm that is a single unit, with eight fully integrated offices spanning six countries of Central America.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

CHAMBERS LATIN AMERICA 2010 For a second consecutive year, Chambers Latin America awarded the El Salvador office of Arias & Muñoz as “Firm of the Year” in its ceremony held in Miami on September 16.

DERECHO & NEGOCIOS AWARDS On September 1st 2010, in San Salvador, Arias & Muñoz was awarded the recognition of “Law Firm of the Year”, by the publication Derecho & Negocios. It was also recognized as “M&A Law Firm of the Year” and “Most Socially Responsible Law Firm of the Year”.

WORLD FINANCE 100 In January 2010, World Finance, a leading financial magazine published by World News Media in London and distributed to over 200 countries, included Arias & Muñoz in its World Finance 100 list of top global companies and individuals. Only five law firms in total are listed, and no others from Latin America.

CENTRAL AMERICA LAW FIRM OF THE YEAR 2009 On November 2009 Chambers & Partners in its inaugural, Chambers Latin America Awards for Excellence 2009 ceremony, held in Miami, has once again honored Arias & Muñoz in the regional category as “Central America Law Firm of the Year”.

EL SALVADOR LAW FIRM OF THE YEAR 2009 On November 2009 Chambers & Partners in its inaugural Chambers Latin America Awards for Excellence 2009 ceremony, held in Miami, awarded Arias & Muñoz in its category of “El Salvador firm of the year”.

CENTRAL AMERICA LAW FIRM OF THE YEAR 2008 In April 2008 over 1,000 of the worlds finest financial lawyers attended IFLR’s annual awards ceremony held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Arias & Muñoz picked up the first ever IFLR award for “Central American Law Firm of the Year.”

LATIN LAWYER DEAL OF THE YEAR 2007 Arias & Muñoz received this prestigious award for participating in the transaction Arcos Dorados/Mc Donald`s Franchise. The Firm represented Arcos Dorados in Costa Rica in the acquisition of business and assets of the Corporation McDonald's Latin American operations, valued at US $700 million.

CHAMBERS GLOBAL AWARD 2006 Arias & Muñoz Central America was presented with the “Central America Law Firm of the Year” Award by the prestigious Chambers & Partners at a London reception in November It is the first time that a Central American firm was honored with a Chambers Global Award, which is the pinnacle of achievement in the legal profession worldwide.
