Presentation transcript:

Fragment A sentence fragment is part of a sentence that is written as if it were a complete sentence. A fragment is missing a subject, predicate, or both. This sentence show that there is no subject so we don’t know what we are talking about After the rain stops. Then what. The sentence is missing the predicate. So the proper sentence will be; After the rain stops we will go outside. Run-ons Run-on sentences are when there are two main clauses in one sentence with out proper punctuation. I ate pie zombies gave me the pie. This is an example of a run on sentence. There is supposed to be a comma in between pie and zombies. The sentence is supposed to be; I ate the pie. Zombies gave me the pie.

Comma Splice Comma splices are like run on sentences but they have commas in them instead of periods. For example We packed snacks juice ice cream and soda for the picnic. The mistake in this sentence is that there is supposed to be a comma in between the words when they are being listed. This is the correct way to write this sentence; We packed snacks, juice, ice cream, and soda for the picnic.

Sentence subject predicate articles A subject in a sentence is usually a noun that is being talked about. A noun is usually person place or thing. The subject is mostly always at the beginning of a sentence. The predicate completes the meaning sentence. A predicate is mostly the verb and the words that help around it. The predicate is underlined in the sentence. John is Asian. A article is a kind of an adjective which is always used with a noun and gives some information about it. Indefinite articles are a/an. Definite articles are THE

In the sentence below the adverb is quickly because it is telling how to do the action. An adjective is a word that describes another (noun or pronoun) Ausjed is a amazing boy. In this entence it shows how Ausjed is an amazing boy.
