ICE STORE HELPS CREATIVE TALENT AND YOUNG PEOPLE ICE Store is a unique social enterprise business based in Edinburgh to help both creative individuals and young people towards reaching their potential. It has so far helped over 80% of its young unemployed people reach a positive destination (60% into employment and 20% into further education, volunteering or further training). Based in the St James Centre, ICE Store has been set up by Joe Trodden who has a background in youth employability and Roger Horam, an experienced project manager who works with creative industries in the third sector.

ICE Store runs an innovative training programme for year olds where they learn about working in retail. The key difference is that the training takes place in a live shop so they can immediately put into practice the theory that is taught on the course. Links with employers means that there are placement opportunities elsewhere so that young people can gain the one thing they really need to make the difference when applying for jobs – experience. ICE Store has made sales on behalf of over 60 independent creative makers and designers. It provides customer and sales feedback that is essential for suppliers who are looking to test trade but do not have the finances or the acumen to start up for themselves yet. Grass roots creative

ICE Store ICE Store: ICE Store is a new way of doing business. It is a not for profit social enterprise consisting of a retail store selling the work of independent artists and designers from Scotland. Everything in ICE Store is handmade giving special meaning to all of our products. ICE Store for Creatives: Picture this: a city centre location to showcase your work, a place where you will have an audience of thousands and the support to take your talents to the wider world. A dream? ICE Store makes this a reality! ICE Store for Young People: Are you aged 16-24? Do you want to create your own future? Come and talk to ICE Store. We know it can be difficult to get the chance you need to show an employer what you can do - how can you get experience if nobody is willing to give you that chance?. ICE Store for Customers: Don’t you hate it when you can’t get that unique dress or necklace that suits you and the occasion perfectly? Or when finding the perfect gift for a friend becomes an impossible task? ICE Store makes it easy!
