Russell Frank, Ph.D. Director II Assessment and Accountability Services Mike Barney Director II Instructional Services Legislation The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 2001, Sec. 1117(a)(5) requires LEAs to develop a School Support Team known in California as the District and School Liaison Team (DSLT) for the purpose of developing and implementing coherent plans for school improvement.

Align fiscal and professional development efforts to maximize student achievement.

Support implementation, monitoring and support for SPSA initiatives. Communicate progress/adjustments about implementation to stakeholders.

The DSLT discusses successes, barriers, and adjustments in meeting the goals or actions in the SPSA. DSLT makes necessary “course corrections” to move the school toward meeting its goals.
