Presentation transcript:

Welcome back from spring break! Today, you need a pen or a pencil. If you haven’t already turned in your rap, you should do so immediately. 3/21 On an index card, in fifteen words or less, sum up your spring break using alliteration. Example: Bright and bold, my break was blessed with Brody Bayler’s babbles. You have 5 minutes:

Today, you need a pen or pencil and a laptop. You will need your laptop EVERY DAY for the next several weeks! 3/22 Research time! Fill out your Rap Wrap-Up card and turn into the box. Please leave laptops closed until instructed otherwise. If you did not turn in your rap, you need to write the reason(s) on the back of the page.

Today, you need a pen or pencil and a laptop. You will need your laptop EVERY DAY for the next several weeks! 3/23 On the back of your paper from yesterday, write your answers to the following. Please leave laptops closed until instructed otherwise. 1.She wants to search for ways to reward her students; however, she doesn’t want to use food as a reward. Mrs. Yarbar is having a “blonde” moment (not a senior moment). Help her determine the best way to narrow her searches for the following topics. 2.She specifically wants to search for a song that mentions motivation in the lyrics. 3. She wants to search for colors that promote learning as well as music that promotes learning.

1.Finish your Search Strategies sheet from yesterday and turn into the box by the end of the period. 2.Go to myarbar.wikispaces.com and click on “Research.” Then click on “Web Evaluation Tutorials.” Each of the tutorials will be the basis for a quiz next week. 3.Go through the tutorial. Then, using the handout, choose two of the three sites listed on the page to evaluate whether or not they are valid sources. 4.At the very bottom, write “yes” or “no” to show whether or not you find the website valid. 5.Turn in by the end of class. 6.Be ready to choose a topic tomorrow. Have several ideas ready. Choices: Countries- A-L, Professions, Colleges, or Writers- A-I. 3/23/11

Today, you need a pen or pencil, one sheet of notebook paper, a laptop, and your Website Evaluation handout. You will need your laptop EVERY DAY for the next several weeks! 3/24 Turn in your completed Research Strategies handout if you have not already done so. In the remaining time allowed, list as many countries, writers, professions, and/or colleges that you might be interested in researching. On a sheet of notebook paper, list three different ways she could limit her search for the desired information. Use your Boolean Logic. Your title is “Boolean Operators.” Yet again, Mrs. Yarbar is overcome by a “blonde” moment. She has an upcoming trip to Louisville, Kentucky and needs help determining the best way to search for tourist attractions or special events in the area during her visit. She is interested in educational or musical attractions; however, she is not interested in events involving anything to do with nature. Below that, make a chart with the following headings: Countries (M-Z)Writers (M-Z)ProfessionsColleges

Today, you need a pen or pencil, one sheet of notebook paper, a laptop, and your Website Evaluation handout. You will need your laptop EVERY DAY for the next several weeks! 3/25 Turn in your completed Web Page Evaluation Checklist handout if you have not already done so. Have your research topic and six research questions available for my perusal. Log in to your computer and go to myarbar.wikispaces.com/Research. Find this heading - Not sure what questions to ask? These sites will help! – and begin reviewing the three sources listed.
