Type of Government The Federalist believed in a strong national /central government. They did not want the states to have too much power for fear that it would divide the country.

What Were the Federalists Afraid Of? The federalists party were afraid of mob rule. They thought that government decisions should be made by educated, wealthy citizens. They believed the common man wouldn’t always act in their best interest.
