Global Studies II Mr. Seiberg

Course Description Global II is the second part of a two year course that includes a regents exam and is a requirement for graduation This course will begin with the struggles of people in Europe and the Americas who seek to build their own nations and create new forms of government Next we will get involved with the effects of the Industrial Revolution on Western Nations and the race for territory in Asia and Africa

Description Continued Colonial rule brought on hardships in these territories for the natives causing them to eventually revolt against the European leaders Revolts lead to a period of violence and social upheaval Finally we will get into the huge impact WWII and the Cold War have on the world and finish with the impact of globalization

Quarter Grading Homework___________________________20% Journals, Current Events, Worksheets, etc. Tests, Projects, & Essays________________ 50% – Multiple Choice, Group Projects, Thematic & DBQ Essays Quizzes_____________________________30% Total______________________________100%

Late Policy You may receive ½ credit for any work turned in after the deadline I will always give you plenty of time to complete your assignments so there should be no reason for you to be late! If you are sick or miss class, the assignment will be due the following day we have class

Required Materials Binder: Each student will keep a binder that will be stored in the room and required to keep it organized! – Purpose: Binder will serve as a great tool for review at the end of the Year! Notebook or folder with paper. – Purpose: Will be used for notes and journals etc.

Expectations The more I can rely on my students reading and participating the less homework I have to assign Productive group activities and projects can lead to less lectures Our goals are to have fun, enjoy history, and perform well on the regents at the end of the year! This class will be what you make of it
