3 Course Description The study of American History from the discovery of North America until Reconstruction Chapter One- American Geography Chapter Two- Native American Cultures Chapter Three- Age of Discovery Chapter Four- English Colonization Chapter Five- Problems With England and the Colonies Chapter Six- The American Revolution Chapter Seven- The U.S. Constitution Chapter Eight- The Early Republic Chapter Nine- Manifest Destiny Chapter Ten- America and Industry Chapter Eleven- Anti- Slave Movement Chapter Twelve- Start of the Conflict Chapter Thirteen- The American Civil War

4 Assessment Tests and some Projects 50% Quizzes and some Projects 25%
HW/Participation/Classwork 25%

Our Founding Fathers The U.S. Constitution The American Presidency The Civil War

6 Class Rules All Students will bring all necessary materials to class. Pen, Binder, and folder. Homework is due the next class after assignment. Failure to do homework will directly affect the final grade. Classwork will affect the final grade.

7 Absences If a student is absent the day of the test the next class they will take the test. If a student misses the review or notes before a test they have two classes to make it up.

8 Current Events Due every Monday Two Paragraphs:
A) One paragraph summary of an article B) One paragraph opinion of the article.

9 Quote of the Day (1) Students will write down a daily quote to get them focused and ready to start the class; at the end of the marking period students will take a quote quiz. Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man Benjamin Franklin
