Unit 3 Creative Expression 1

 Creative expression = you putting forth your personal ideas and opinions in a creative manner  Types of creative expression- short story, novella, novel, meme, song, skit, sketch, play, spoken word performance, poetry and digital poetry and video response.  Photographs, drawings and paintings can also be considered as creative expression.

Short story as a creative response  Types; fan fictions, crossover and adapted fiction.  Elements of a short story; 1. Plot 2. Themes 3. Setting 4. Characters 5. Point of view 6. Conflicts

Plot  The events that make the story  There are 5 elements in a plot;

Themes…  The central idea of the story  S.s. usually have one main theme and a few sub themes.  Readers will have to deduce the theme from the story as it is usually not mentioned in the story.  Common themes e.g. love, friendship, betrayal etc.
