Network Operation Centers (NOCs) and Service Operation Centers (SOCs) Customer Services, Quality of Service and Billing 16 - 18 September 2015, Gaborone, Botswana Network Operation Centers (NOCs) and Service Operation Centers (SOCs) Jacob Munodawafa

Network Operation Centers (NOCs) NOC, manages the NMS systems, monitors faults and events, track the performance of the network and troubleshoot the problems at the first hand. As the name implies, the main purpose of the NOC is to manage the network.

Service Operation Centers (SOCs) Service Operation Centers implement the service quality management  concept. Service Operation Center or SOC monitors the quality of the overall service and take the necessary actions in the case of service degradations and outages. The main data source for the SOC screens will be the SQM. The experts in the SOC will continuously monitor SQM and coordinate with other departments to decrease the MTTR of the service outages.

Network Operations Centre (NOC) A Network Operations Center or Service Operation Center rests at the heart of every telecom network or major data center, a place to keep an eye on everything Large organizations may operate more than one NOC /SOC, either to manage different networks or to provide geographic redundancy in the event of one site being unavailable or offline Overview of a typical NOC. Status monitors (front), backbone overview (back), and news broadcast on TV-set (right).
