2. ABOUT BOFINET
Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet) is a 100% Botswana Government Owned Company.
Established following the privatization process of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) in 2012.
BOFINET is a wholesale provider of national and international telecommunication infrastructure which were owned by the Government, whose core business is to transport services using the fibre optic transport media.
International connectivity - EASSy and WACS submarine cables
National fibre backbone (DWDM & SDH)
Fibre in the local loop transport network (FTTX)
BoFiNet mandate is to provide and operate a world class telecommunications backbone network infrastructure which will drive connectivity and economic growth.

Bofinet has the capability to supply other regional countries including South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and manymore

3. PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
IP Transit - offers connection to the global internet. It enables you to instantly connect to the Internet to access contents.
National leased lines services - suitable to support dedicated point-to-point, ring and linear topologies.charged on distance based(250km)
International Private Leased Circuit IPLC - Connects customers to the rest of the world in our network through half IPLC or full IPLC. (connect as far as London, France and a couple in SA)
COLOCATION - Renting out of space where equipments are housed.

5. Challenges
limited resources when provisioning the services through the SDH equipment
Mitigations:
Deployment of Metro IP Network and IP Core Network.
Lack of automated systems to monitor service provisioning and management.
Manual documentation and pc storage of data.
Manual Billing - prone to human errors
Manual configuration of services
No visibility in tracking of service orders and trouble tickets
Delay in service provisioning due to lack of materials from stock control. r

6. Late collections of revenue
- Mitigation: deployment of OSS/BSS System.
Deployment of radio technology for last mile connectivity.
