E-portfolio & Europass Theo Mensen Dik van der Wal

Agenda: Welcome Introduction: Pedro Chaves, Theo Mensen, Erik van den Broek, Dik van der Wal Central message of this workshop Short presentations: Europass (Dik) E-portfolio (Theo) Discussion

Central message: E-portfolio’s (par example Europass) offer citizens /students the opportunity to be the owner of their own data (including diplomas). User Centric: The citizen/student is the central chain: he is owner and therefore responsible for his own data. E-portfolio = Personal Data Store Standardization is essential! Worldwide!

Europass: Initiative of the European Union to promote mobility in working and studying. Simplify this mobility by the use of five official documents available all over Europe. 31 National Europass Centra are responsible to promote Europass.

Europass: A portfolio which contains five documents: Europass CV Europass Language Passport Europass Mobility Europass Certificate supplement Europass Diploma supplement

Europass CV: A standardised CV in all European languages which offers a very clear illustration of knowledge and skills Recognizable for employers Very often used ( ) in all European countries

Europass Language Passport: A description of your language skills in writing, speaking, reading and listening

Europass Mobility: Provides validated information about internships, training or study in another European country

Europass: Collectively the documents form a portfolio. These can be part of a larger portfolio. The student is the owner of his own documents.

Europass: At this moment these documents are available on paper and only partly digital. The exchange of documents or data on paper is: difficult, inefficient expensive the only way out is to digitalize these data!

E-portfolio: Theo Mensen

Discussion: Can Europass and ePortfolio be linked to your Student Data Systems/Services?

Discussion: Do you know best practices In B2B and B2C services using your Student Data depository?

Discussion: Is it difficult for you to describe the value proposition/business case for worldwide implementations of trusted, authenticated and secured Student Data/Learning Outcomes using international privacy standards and services like Europass and ePortfolio ?

Discussion: The student is the owner of his own data: is this possible in your country?

Discussion: What does this mean for student data depositories?

Discussion: What should be done to achieve this?
