PROBLEM "If a girl posts a mean texting remark, she doesn't have to witness the target's hurt reaction," Oliver said in a statement. "Many students post messages that they would never say in a face-to-face situation."
PROBLEM Girls Boys I have been cyberbullied at least once. 25% 17% I have cyberbullied others. 21% 18% I have spread untrue stories about others through texting. 7% 6%
Solution A South Carolina law requires school districts to define bullying and outline policies and repercussions for the behavior, including cyber-bullying. In Oregon, lawmakers have lined up behind a proposed bill that would require all of the state's 198 school districts to adopt policies that prohibit cyber-bullying. If all the states did this there would be less cyberbullying.
