Executive Director Update November 14, 2014

HLSC Executive Director met one-on-one with leaders of member agencies and compiled a list of their needs. Those needs were summarized and prioritized in the May, 2014 members meeting. In turn, that prioritized list drove the focus in 2014 on initiatives such as professional development. “The Excellent Supervisor” (first time supervisor training program) was developed through a cross- agency team effort. In partnership with LeMoyne College’s Madden School of Business, the program has been delivered to 24 people from 19 agencies. Third and final session is November Accomplishments

HSLC website was enhanced for improved communication and effectiveness. This initiative used cross-agency team input and was delivered in partnership with iConsult of Syracuse University. Enhancements include:  Member agencies’ logos are highlighted on home page and links to agency websites are functioning  Website is a reliable repository of information (meeting minutes, events calendar, announcements)  “Channels” in members-only section enable efficient information exchange among members 2014 Accomplishments

HSLC was a partner in the “Nourishing Tomorrow’s Leaders” board diversity development initiative, to broaden the community’s pool of board leaders. This collaboration - led by the Gifford Foundation, includes the Community Foundation and Leadership Greater Syracuse. 26 participants (new to board leadership) will graduate this board development program on November 18. Many are interested in serving on boards of human service non-profits. HSLC hosted an after-hours “open house” for members on October Accomplishments

HSLC member meetings addressed important current issues (such as Nonprofit Revitalization Act) and updated members regarding the on-going initiatives of the HSLC. Executive Director served as “point person” for members, to respond to their questions and needs. Provided timely communications among HSLC members. Executive Director served as liaison to community. Attended community events to promote awareness of HSLC. Connected with CenterState CEO Accomplishments
