HAZADR Strengthening common reaction capacity to fight sea pollution of oil, toxic and hazardous substances in Adriatic Sea Public Institution RERA SD for Coordination and Development of Split-Dalmatia County Kick off meeting Bari, January 2013

Partner’s institutional profile RERA SD is institution established by SD County as operational body - within our department assigned with planning, preparing and implementing projects, we are currently fully engaged in CBC programs and FP7 projects - responsible for creation of strategic document County development strategy and incharge of the menagment of the county project base SD County - Department of Tourism and Maritime has competence in case of sea hazards and sea pollution and can act upon it in various cases of sea emergency -Supports Maritime Studies (University of Split) -co-finances different conferences (*scientific forum DEMaT’!! on marine and submarine technology)

Main threats to your coasts due to technological hazards or needs Our coast is mainly effected - sea traffic which directly effects marine enviroment -increasing number of nautic ports -waste waters household and industrial waste -ship accidents

Expectations from the project - establishment of cross-border network in cases of crisis menagement and prevention - domestic Scientific and Research Centres and partners included in creation of prevention and post-reaction strategy - inclusion in joint Adriatic training centres which would improve our capacity on operational level - producing the study or analysis on waste managment in marinas and its selection which could eventually result with ECO Marina projects and more human and enviromental friendly port infrastructure

Our contribution to HAZADR Split Dalmatia County contributes in all project packages -Upgrading the knowledge framework which includes assestment of risks in territorial sea -Improvement of common legal platform and participating in training courses which will be held in Rijeka -SD County owne two boats in order to protect maritime enviroment and has adopted regional legal acts for higher performanse of operations and procedures defined in regional development plan. Therefore we can provide specific know how to our partners and promote the importance of delivery the prevention and post- reaction strategy M.sc. Barbara Govorčin
