Speaking Practice: Parks Some people have to finish stage 2, describe a park. Try to choose a national park, city park, or theme park and speak for 1-2 minutes. parksp , Hyde Park and other royal parks of London National Parks

IELTS: Tips 1. Give a full answer and complete answer. You can say specific information such as the park name. You may even say the Chinese name and what it translates as into English. If you are not sure when to stop, just speak until the examiner stops you. 2. Speak clearly and don't worry about your accent. Everyone has an accent and the basic rule is that if the examiner can understand you, its fine. Remember the keyword is enunciation. 3. Try to use descriptive words, and adjectives.

IELTS: Tips 4. Speak up! If you are too quiet you will loose points. Also, if you don't have confidence, just pretend that you do. It really works. “mind over matter” 5. Don't use slang, be formal. 6. Keep a steady pace, don't be too fast or too slow. 7. You can memorize phrases and beginning grammar such as “When I hear that question, the first thing that comes to mind is.....”

IELTS: Tips 8. Don't be afraid to use Chinese words for names and places. You can say the Chinese name of the national park, then explain its meaning in English. Or, don't be afraid to say “I'm not sure of the English name, but its called __________ in Chinese which means _______” 9. Don't be afraid to ask questions in stage 3. You cannot ask questions in stage 1 or 2, but it is useful and sometimes necessary to do so in stage 3.

IELTS: Tips 10. Practice speaking with a watch. You can get an idea about how long 2 minutes or 10 minutes really is. Time yourself and try to keep your answers to an appropriate length. 11. Stay on topic. Don't change the subject or the examiner will think that you have misunderstood the question. 12. Practice with your friends. If you can find a really close friend who is comfortable speaking English with you, it can be really helpful.

IELTS: Tips 13. It is quite possible that you have to speak about something you have never heard of, or have no opinion of. If you don’t know the subject – tell the examiner immediately, so he could ask you another question. If you don’t tell him and start trying to speak, he might think that it is not a knowledge problem, but a language problem.
