Feedback from July 15 LEB

Cancer Strategy Commission enhanced diagnostic services - We have commissioned a direct to test option in the colorectal pathway which hopefully be complete by end of October Audit the whole Pathway Beginning with Lung Cancer - We have made progress with this and hope to complete by end of November Insight and Targeted work with Primary Care to improve early diagnosis - In conjunction with Cancer Research UK (CRUK) I have developed a programme of practice visits based on the Cancer Practice profiles. The first visit is 22 September. This will be a joint venture with CRUK

MSK Services “The project team would like to thank everyone for their comments at the July LEB, through the feedback we have been assured that our early thinking on the type of service provision has been very similar to the wishes of those attending. We are keen to progress the requirement for Psychological support to assist in the management of pain as a component of the wider MSK service.

Whilst we cannot go into specifics as this is to be part of a procurement exercise that follows a legal framework, we can highlight that in addition to the psychological support we have also taken on board the number of comments made around ensuring GPs and patients are aware of the service and that would include resources for self-management. As a result of the feedback we are keen to ensure that there is a strong relationship between practices and the service in terms of making use of education events where GPs’ own awareness can be enhanced to able them to better deal with that particular cohort of patients should they present at their surgery. Adjustments are being made to the final service specification as a result of this feedback.”
