Activating Prior Knowledge Have you heard the word transportation? The word transportation has the prefix trans-. Can you see the prefix inter- in intermediate? What does intermediate mean?

Concept Development inter- : Latin prefix meaning between or among: the second element of the compound is singular in form. trans- : Latin prefix meaning on the other side of, to the other side of, over, across, or through. inter- : Prefix from Latin meaning “between.” trans- : Prefix from Latin meaning “across.”
