1 Vocabulary and Concept Development EDI
Standard: 1.4 Students will identify common roots and affixes derived from Greek and Latin and use this knowledge to analyze the meaning of complex words (e.g., international). Teacher reads the standard as students repeat.

3 Activating Prior Knowledge
Have you heard the word circle? The root circ means “around.” Can you see the root cycl in bicycle? The root cycl means “revolving.” What revolves on a bicycle? A and B share their thoughts. Teacher calls on 2-3 non-volunteers to share their thoughts.
