Lines of Latitude Run East and West. Measure distances North and South of the Equator. Equator: 0°

Lines of Longitude Run North and South. Measure distances East and West of the Prime Meridian. Prime Meridian: 0°

How to Locate a Place 1. Place your finger on the Equator. 2. Move North or South based on the coordinate given. 3. Place your other finger on the Prime Meridian. 4. Move East of West based on the coordinate given. 5. Find the place where the two lines intersect. Remember, lines of longitude curve, so it is important to follow the curve.
