Unit 1 Vocabulary

Percent: a part of a whole expressed in hundredths.

Positive rational numbers: the set of numbers that can be expressed as a fraction a/b, where a and b are whole numbers and b ≠ 0

Fraction: a number that represents part of a whole or part of a set.

Number line: a diagram used to order whole numbers

Numerator (Part): the top number of a fraction that tells how many parts of a whole are being considered.

Denominator (Whole): the bottom number of a fraction that tells how many equal parts are in the whole.

Equivalent: having the same value.
