Near Field Communications

NFC Forum The NFC Forum was created by Trio Philips/NXP, Nokia, and Sony in March 2004. The Forum has nearly 120 members. Manufacturers, applications developers, financial services institutions, and more all work together to promote the use of NFC technology in consumer electronics, mobile devices, and PCs.

Efficiency is the Key to the Future

How it Works NFC is an easy to use wireless communication interface that works in terms of Centimeters. The NFC chip is embedded into a cell phone or other electronic device (digital camera, camcorder, etc.)

How it Works You place your mobile communications device a few centimeters from the desired transmitter. NFC will allow for easier cell to cell transmissions by placing cell phones a short distance from each other.

Technical Aspects NFC NFC works within a typical distance of 10 cm. Based on RFID technology that works at 13.56 MHz NFC runs a typical speed of 424 kilobits/sec. NFC 13,56MHz RF Link

NFC Uses for Consumers Consumers will be able to download everything from directions to movie trailers. With the advances in NFC will come NFC enabled computer allowing a person to download information from the internet and then to your phone.

NFC in Business Businesses will benefit from NFC by saving time and money. Streamline payment options Eliminate needless business operations Useful Marketing Tool

NFC Security With NFC comes questions in security. Security features are designed so that it will be nearly impossible to gain entrance into someone’s cell phone.

NFC Security With NFC being predominate in cell phones and computers, security will be a top priority. Biometrics will offer the most convenient source to this problem.

Conclusion NFC is cutting edge technology. In 10 to 15 years experts predict that it will be commonplace in everyday life. The possibilities are endless with the increased amount of research going into NFC. The benefits of NFC are clear.
