Temperate Rainforest Biome Research By Laurel Wakefield

Temperate Rainforest Geography & Climate Located in Canada, California, and Alaska The topmost layer is called a canopy. Other layers are the understory and the forest floor Temperate Rainforests receive 60 to 200 inches of rain per year The soil is very rich in nutrients It is warm during summer while still cool and wet The climate is mild

Temperate Rainforest Biodiversity Flora: Fern, Grasses, Moss, Small Flowering Plants, Fungi, Small Leafy Plants, and Bacteria Fauna: Lynx, Wolf, Bear, Cougar, Shrew, Amphibian, Weasel, Raccoon, Insects, Birds, Small Mammals, Salmon, Deer, and Elk There are many different species in the Temperate Rainforest.

Temperate Rainforest Adaptations Needed for Survival Flora: On the lowest layer of the Temperate Rainforest there is a thick covering of low-growing lichens Fauna: Most animals live on or near the forest floor. The understory and canopy provide protection for the animals.

Temperate Rainforest Interactions of Biotic and Abiotic Biotic: Large food web with a lot of animals. Abiotic: Fires help plant growth.

How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem? Biodiversity allows us to live healthy and happy lives. It provides us with an many different choices of foods and materials.

What is Biodiversity? Biodiversity is the variety of life. It can be studied at many different levels. The highest level is the entire earth, the smallest level is within a pond.
