2 Grassland Geography & Climate Location: The North American Prairie, The Pampas, and Alpine Climate Description: Mostly grasslands Soil type: Rich soil is good for farming Precipitation: 20-35 inches rain fall Temperate range: 100 F in summers and (37.8 c )and in the winters Climate: Very hot summer and very cold winters

3 Grassland Biodiversity Plant species: purple needle grass wild oats, foxtail, rye grass and buffalo grass.Animals species: bison, antelope, birds, gophers, prairie dogs, coyotes, lynx, falcons, fox and insects

4 Grassland Adaptations Needed for Survival Plant: The animals eat the stems of the leafs of the plants and produces oxygen so the animals can live. Animal: The animals eat the stems and the leafs of the plants produces

5 Grassland Interactions of Biotic and Abiotic Biotic : The grass that the animals eat and the plants they soak up the sunlight. Abiotic : When the animals breathe the oxygen and the sunlight that helps the plants that the animals eat.

6 What is Biodiversity? Well Biodiversity is different varieties of life

7 How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem ? The reason Biodiversity contributes to the ecosystem because all living things are part of the ecosystem like the frogs help the pond and the dogs that eat the grass. All living things are important if something happened to one thing then every thing would be messing up and it would effect the ecosystem.
