Books That Made A Difference To Manny Mara 12/17/13

Relationship with reading Reading has really consumed most of my life when I was young. I do not read like I use to. In the third grade I probably would spend a hour a day reading a book. Whenever I was mad I would read a book. I don’t know what I would have done if I had didn’t have books at a young age. In the third grade I set a record at R.B. Hunt with three hundred point on a website called accelerated reader. Reading was my sport. It was very competitive to me but as I grew up basketball took readings place.

Shaq uncut made a difference to me because I play basketball and can relate to a lot of his experiences with basketball. He talks a lot about normal life experiences too. His story really inspired me even besides basketball. He travels a lot and so do I. He does a lot of activities so do I. For example he is a black belt and I really because of this book am considering taking karate. This book has made me want to do a lot of things that I would normally not even think of doing.

Schooled Schooled is a book that morally has changed me as a person. Even though I was never a bully this even changed my mind about thinking of kids as being less than me as a person. Capricorn Anderson is a sixth grader who really has no sense of real world sense. He is bullied all the time. He is so peaceful though. When kids bully him he resorts to meditation and is very spiritual. He ends up becoming the school’s president after he drives a bus when the driver has a heart attack. He always saves things from going wrong and that’s what people love about him in the end. After they look through his outer layer they realize he is a amazing person.

TRAVEL TEAM Travel team is a book about a kid Danny Walker. He gets cut from the local travel team. Instead of quitting he makes his own travel team with his best friends. His best friends are really bad at basketball so he coaches them to be better. With help from his dad Richie Walker a former NBA player they end up beating the team that Danny got cut from. It really inspired me how he never gave up on his dream. He fueled it to make him really good.
