Bats and Birds First grade Science CA Content Standard: Life Science 2.0 Animals meet their needs in different ways. Students know that animals inhabit different kinds of environments and have external features that help them thrive in different kinds of places.

Bats can fly, but they are not birds.

Bats have fur. Their wings are made of skin.

The wings of birds are made of feathers.
