Presentation transcript:

E-LEARNING IN 21 ST CENTURY

WHAT? E-learning is a new education concept by using the Internet technology. E-learning is essentially the computer and network-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge. E-learning applications and processes include Web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual education opportunities and digital collaboration.

Marc Rosenberg (2001) confines elearning to the internet as: the use of internet technologies to deliver a broad array of solutions that enhance knowledge and performance. It is based upon three fundamental criteria:  networked  delivered to the end-user via a computer using standard internet technology  focuses on the broadest view of learning Allison Rossett (2001) defines elearning as: Web-based training (WBT), also known as elearning and on-line learning, is training that resides on a server or host computer that is connected to the World Wide Web.

HOW? The content is delivered via the Internet, intranet/extranet, audio or video tape, satellite TV, and CD-ROM. It can be self-paced or instructor-led and includes media in the form of text, image, animation, streaming video and audio. It delivers the digital content, provides a learner-orient environment for the teachers and students. The e-learning promotes the construction of life-long learning opinions and learning society.

WHO? E-learning is suitable for everyone (teachers, students, lecturer) to get an access towards the preferable knowledge. Students will be able to get the information from teacher/lecturer about the assignment and homework. As for teachers, they will be able to be connected to students in order to monitor their work and help them to solve it.

WHERE? It has been used world widely in school, university, college, and even organizational company. Since e-learning is an education concept that integrate internet technology in the learning process, it is much more convenience and practical as teachers and students are able to access the e- learning portal whenever or wherever they are as long as they are connected with the internet.

WHY? 1. e-learning offers quicker access than classroom training. Students can access the e-learning in short period of time in order to gain the knowledge and information desired. Since it is much practical and organize, students require less time to master or understand the lesson. Besides, it can be access all over again whenever or wherever they would like to.

WHY? 2. Collaborative e-learning helps get team members all on the same page sooner than traditional learning. Students are able to interact with their friends in order to discuss about their work and projects. They do not have to meet each other frequently as it will be less convenience.

WHY? 3. e-learning helps keep students and teachers/lecturers updated with their work or projects. Students, teachers and lecturers can be updated with the changes and improvement in their work and projects as well as able to know the progress of their work.

WHY? 4. Variety in learning styles. Students will be expose to various kind of learning styles by using e- learning because they can integrate music, videos, audios, graphics and texts in their lesson. It is more fun and interesting than the traditional classroom learning.
