Who We Are Chicago Academy of Sciences, founded 1857 Nature Museum opened in 1999 as the teaching and learning center of the Academy

Our Mission Our mission is to create a positive relationship between people and nature through collaborations, education, research and collections, exhibits and public forums that fosters urban connections to our region’s nature and science Our Vision Be the urban connection to the world of nature and science

Principles Supporting Community Programs Programs should:   Engage the audience in development   Be relevant to the community   When possible, occur in the community   Provide an experience not available at school or home   Provide opportunities for action

El Valor To support and challenge urban families to achieve excellence and participate fully in community life. Our variety of programs exist to enrich and empower people with disabilities, the disenfranchised and the underserved.
