Into the Wild Essay Outline

What is your position? Write a sentence that states your position.

Main point 1 What is one of the major points that you will try and prove in your essay? What quote are you going to use to defend it?

Rhetorical Appeal What rhetorical appeal are you planning to use for this point? What will you do to show that it is the appeal you want?

Main point 2 What is one of the major points that you will try and prove in your essay? What quote are you going to use to defend it?

Rhetorical Appeal What rhetorical appeal are you planning to use for this point? What will you do to show that it is the appeal you want?

Discuss your points With your partner, discuss the major points that you will be using in this essay. Explain the rhetorical appeals you are using

Which point will you Rebut? Decide which point you think would be easiest or most interesting to create a rebuttal argument. Which appeal will you use rebut it? Will this change any of the other rhetorical appeals that you have already planed to use? Which quote will you use for your rebuttal?

Discuss Share what you are planning to write. Are there any holes that either of you can see in the argument? Does it all make sense? Why? Why not?

Introduction How will you hook the audience? How will you transition from the hook to discussing the book? How will you state your thesis or claim? (You did this on the first slide.)
