What housing needs do the elderly have?

What health needs do the elderly have?

Services Available… Care in the Community Rather than go to hospitals or residential care, elderly people cared for at home. Keeps older people independent and saves country money.

Services Available… Care in the Community (2) Care Plans are drawn up by social workers for elderly people.

How do social workers help? Day Care – go to centres to socialise, play games, get dinner etc… Home Helps – Help with cleaning, cooking, shopping etc… Meals on Wheels – Provide meals for older people at home.

How do social workers help? Community Nurse – help with personal care, e.g. injections, medicines. Lunch Clubs – provide meals at community centres/ halls Occupational Therapist – install equipment to help older people, e.g. wider doors, grab rails etc…

How do social workers help? Community Alarm Scheme – elderly people can press alarm for assistance 24 hours a day. Elderly people feel more secure and independent.
