1 Learning Intentions Today I will: Gain an understanding of the importance of sheltered housing to elderly people

2 Sheltered Housing This is special housing for elderly people. They have their own house or flat but can call on the warden for help if they need to.

3 Sheltered Housing Main Advantages: 1.Keep independence 2.Feel safe and secure 3.Usually on one level (no stairs)

4 Features of Sheltered Houses 1.Pressure Pads This is to let the warden know when an elderly person is moving about.

5 Features of Sheltered Houses 2.Intercom This allows the warden to speak to the elderly person and vice-versa.

6 Features of Sheltered Houses 3.Pull Cords These are long cords which elderly people can pull on if they need help.

7 Other Features Beside each feature below, write how this would help elderly people: 1.Security entry at front door – 2.Warden’s house and office – 3.Laundry Department – 4.Guest Room – 5.Community Lounge -
