 The writing process is exactly what it sounds like: the journey we all take when we sit down & write anything (open responses, essays, narratives, essays etc.)

 Everyone has their own take.  The Five Steps of the Writing Process The Five Steps of the Writing Process

 Today is the fun part: PREWRITING!  Like our link tells us, brainstorming is wildly important here…so let’s!

 Fractal/snowflake: One word as the center, four branches that relate to the word.

 What is my purpose? › Inform? Persuade? Entertain? › What’s my topic?  Who is my audience? › What does the reader need to know? › What is something interesting I can share with my reader?

 Think of something you are an expert at. Make a list of things, people, or places you know a lot about.

 Think of a specific situation that’s happened to you in the last year. Write a short (5 sentences) paragraph about this experience. THEN think about how the situation could’ve turned out COMPLETELY differently. Write an alternate experience with that ending in mind.

 Describe a time when you were: › Happy › Angry › Scared › Sad › Proud of yourself  Describe a memory from your favorite: › Holiday › Vacation › Summer › Season › Place
