1 Writing a Five-Sentence Paragraph

2 Begin with a topic sentence.
What’s the paragraph about? Be sure to indent!

3 Example: The last time I attended a wedding, I was the flower girl.
The topic of the sentence is “wedding.”

4 Write three detail sentences.
Each sentence should tell about the topic. Use the past perfect to describe what happened and when.

5 Example: The last time I attended a wedding, I was the flower girl. I had waited three months to wear my new pink dress. After the ceremony, I had eaten so much cake, I thought I might get sick. Everyone had said it would be fun and it was!

6 Finish with an ending sentence.
Restate the topic of the paragraph. Make it a closing sentence, so the reader knows it’s the end.
