What is a virus? A virus, affects your computer and damages its software. It can affect your computer, and some viruses can damage your computer so badly that you cant use it for ages until it is fixed.

How can you get a virus? A virus can come through by , usually. People send virus to make lots of money further on in life, and because they want to waste their time and yours as well.

What are the different types of viruses? Hundreds of viruses are released every day, but the main one is the I love you virus. You open your , with that smile in your face and then all your happiness drains away as you realise that it is a virus. Viruses can make your life a living nightmare as they make you so annoyed with the things that they do.

How can you stop yourself from getting a virus? One of the main ways of getting a virus is through chain mails. If you get a chain that has a website, and it wants you to open it, NEVER open it because eit probably contains a virus. Some virus’, if you open them, your computer automatically sends it to everyone on your contacts and then they end up with the virus.

What is Hacking? Hacking is when somebody opens all of your files. They break into your computer, and can see everything. They gain access to your controls, and can control the things on your computer e.g files, images etc. it is your responsibility to make sure that everything has been turned off before you log of of your computer.

What damage can hackers do? Hackers can access your files and information on your computer. They can sell your information, such as address’, bank account details, or what ever they want to get their hands on to make money that’s on your computer. One night you might log off of your computer but not turn it off, and the next morning realise that someone has sold your phone number and you have loads of missed calls from people you don’t know.

How can you stop hackers from being able to get onto your computer? To stop hackers from accessing your computer, you should always fully turn it off before you go to bed. Over night, they assume that no one is on their computer, so they take their chance and hack onto peoples computers. Never give out any personal information for the public to see, such as phone numbers, address’ or bank details.

Why is it important to back up your work or information? It is very important to back up your computer because if your computer gets hacked, you have all of the work and files safe, and you don’t have to worry about losing it.

Where should you back your work up to? You should back up your work to a disc and keep it very safe so that you don’t lose it or so that anyone can get it and see your files and work.

How can you keep your backups secure? You can keep them secure by keeping your files either on a disc or on a memory stick, and hide it somewhere where your friends, siblings or anyone else can find it. You could keep it in a fire hazard place.
