Healthwatch Somerset – what we do  collect the views of people in Somerset about their experiences of local health and social care services to feed into the commissioning processes for local services  Support people to get what they need from services by linking them with advocacy services  we provide information and signposting to local services and resources

Healthwatch Somerset – how we work  Staff team – 3 development workers – research & evaluation, volunteer coordinator, communication and marketing, manager  Volunteer team – currently 15 and 9 in training  Executive group – monthly meetings plan and drive work  Office for phone and contact with individuals  Website & Social media – Twitter and facebook  Contact with groups and organisations, events and networks  Monthly e-bulletins and quarterly newsletters

Volunteering Opportunities  Representative – sit on local boards and working groups  Enter & View – observe services being delivered  Champion – bring in the views and experiences of groups in the community

 Well Aware is a free online and telephone information directory of health, wellbeing and community groups, organisations, activities and services  there is a freephone helpline  the Well Aware team will search for information for callers 

 8 categories – support round the home, home adaptions, mobility, personal health services, socialising, emotional support, learning & working, services for older people, people with disabilities  Calendar of events – for registered users  Information and Resources section – information for people with learning difficulties, mental health needs, low sight, dementia, links to other databases  Text in 14 languages, words only, larger text and sound (browse aloud)  Adding “how to…” guides
