Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) Legal duty since 2007 HSC Act 2012: Health and Wellbeing Boards responsible for JSNA & Health and Wellbeing Strategy (HWS) HSC Act 2012 gave HWB duties and powers to ensure JSNA & HWS reflect needs and views of local population Role of HWB: – Assess needs of local population through JSNA – Produce strategy from which commissioning plans are developed – Promote integration and partnership

JSNA definition The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a process through which a comprehensive picture of health and wellbeing needs for the local population is formed and used to shape commissioning priorities to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities in our communities.
