 A category of literary work  Short Story – Science Fiction

 Giving hints of what is to come later in the story  As we read “The Veldt,” look for clues from the nursery that show what may happen in the end.

 What does Bradbury want us to learn or gain from reading his story?  Pay attention to the use of technology and the outcome of relying too heavily on technology.

 A reference in literature to something that is well-known. This does not indicate that the story’s plot is focused on that reference, it just simply jogs the reader’s memory with that idea.  The children’s names are Wendy and Peter.  Peter Pan

 PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE SETTING!  Be able to describe the house and the nursery.  What is so special about both? How does this contribute to the genre of science-fiction?
