American Schools Are interesting Provide quality education and top quality curriculum Serve diverse populations Provide outstanding, caring, service

Principal/Administrator Is the head of the school setting Provides guidance for all teachers and students The principal meets requests from parents, school board members, parents and government officials

Teacher He or she is the person responsible for instruction He or she gives you a grade Teaches subjects such as Math, Science, English and history

Paraprofessional Is a trained individual who assists the special education classroom teacher with the day-to- day operations The paraprofessional may work with a group of student or may be assigned to one particular student

Teacher’s Aide Individual who assists the classroom teacher in a variety of areas such as making copies, grading papers, or working with small groups The T.A. works with a small group of students

Counselor Provides academic skill support Organizational, study, and test-taking skills Coping strategies Goal-setting decision making Individual and small group counseling

Librarian/Media Specialist Oversees the operation of the library, ordering books, checking out books, return books, and re-shelving books Trains staff and students on the use of the library Manages the media center, audio-visual equipment and other materials as required

Nurse Provides general first aid to students in school Administers medication to students who need it or are required medication Keeps pertinent records on when they see students, what they saw, and how it was treated

Custodian A custodian is responsible for the day- to-day cleaning of the school buildings The vacuum, sweep, mop, clean bathrooms, and empty trash etc.

Maintenance Worker Maintenance is responsible for keeping all the physical operations of a school running If something is broke maintenance is responsible for repairing it

Computer Technician Is responsible for assisting school personnel with any computer issue or question they may have

Cafeteria Manager Plans, coordinate, assign, oversee, and participate as required in the preparation, cooking and serving food Train personnel in operational procedures Maintain consistency in food preparation and service to students and employees
