Types of Cyberbullying Impersonate: Pretending to be someone else Gossip: Posting Lies, Spreading Rumors, or Sharing someone else's personal secrets Exclude: Telling others to keep someone out of a chat room or group Threaten: Mean s, text messages, or chats that say something bad will happen to someone

Flaming: Online fights using electronic messages with angry and vulgar language Harassment: Repeatedly sending nasty, mean, and insulting messages Trickery: Tricking someone into revealing secrets or embarrassing information, then sharing it online Cyberstalking: Repeated, intense harassment and gossip that includes threats or creates significant fear
What Do You Do? If you are Cyberbullied, or if you know that someone else is being cyberbullied, you should do the following: Tell a trusted adult Don't open s from people you don't know Report address or screen name to the site's webmaster Ignore bullies; don't respond Forward the s to a trusted adult then decide together whether that person needs to be blocked or reported
What Do You Do? (cont.) Change your password Remember the most important rule: Never retaliate! Keep your hands off the keyboard until you have calmed down enough to figure out what to do. Always save the evidence. Download the harmful material. Save any chats or instant messages. But don’t keep looking at it— this will only make you feel worse.
Review Cyberbullying can be a crime. It must be reported somehow in order for it to stop. There are many types and ways to cyberbully. Cyberbullying is just as serious as bullying in person. Be sure to tell a trusted adult immediately if cyberbullying is occurring.
