GROUP: JOSEPH MONTANO, MICHELLE PALYS, JEREMY PALANZA mwell%2Bof%2BEngland&searchHistoryKey=&queryHash=bd0191d7c4d4991e5266b dedb0e06a9b& This is a picture of Oliver Cromwell of England in the congress. Born: In April 25, 1599 Huntingdon, England Death: September 3, 1658 Reign: Empire Ruled: England

Son of Cromwell was Richard, he was a younger son of one of the richest men in the district and was named Lord Protector 1616 – Entered Sidney Sussex college at – Married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir James 1642 – Cromwell headed a regiment whose prime duty was to defend East Anglia Cromwell was a high official in Parliament before he took over His rise began in 1642 In 1643, Cromwell cavalry grew to a regiment of more than a thousand men. Cromwell’s ironsides turned the tide at the battle of Marstan Moor, giving Parliament its first major victory The church and the army selected members for barebones but when it became rancorous, its modern members dissolved Parliament and gave Cromwell its power 1653 he accepted the instrument of government, a written constitution granting power to a one-house Parliament and to himself as lord protector of England HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

SUCCESSES & FAILURES Successes He made a New strong Model Army which was powerful and protected England He prevented the Royalist from taking the Cambridge colleges. Which is known as the battle of Edgehill Oliver removed the social problems to the advancement in the Army His actions were influenced in developing a democracy Oliver helped create the Royal Navy He gave England a good and efficient government He was a natural military commander Failures Oliver failed to establishing a parliamentary government He failed to create a tolerant church In 1642 at the Battle Edge Hill the Roundheads were defeated by the superior Royalist (Cromwell lost the battle ) Since Cromwell was a military style leader the Royalist dug his body out of the ground and beheaded.

Legacy & Importance Cromwell grew the Parliament army leading to their victory at the battle of Marstan Moor Cromwell restarted England’s respect among its neighbors. He failed in his attempt to establish a Parliamentary government and a tolerant church Achievements in government and power, warfare and conquest After Cromwell’s death his ideas about government expanded. Oliver was a skilled military leader

Views of Oliver Cromwell Michelle Overall, I think that Oliver Cromwell was a good monarch. He gave parliaments first major victory. He also made parliament the ruler of the kingdom. England became a republic because of Oliver. I believe that he was a strong leader for England accomplished many things. He did have some things that he failed to do like establishing a parliamentary government and a tolerant church but he was still a good ruler/monarch. Jeremy Oliver Cromwell was a successful monarch. Huntingdon elected Cromwell to Parliament in This was the start to his successful political career. Cromwell formed a troop of cavalry, gave money for the defense of Parliament, and militarized his constituency in Cambridge. Cromwell was a dominant figure in the English Civil Wars. He led parliament to its first major victory. He was a successful monarch that during his ruling created an environment where his ideas about parliament and church could grow after his death. Joseph Oliver Crowell was a very successful ruler. He was a strong military leader but people didn’t like him. Before Oliver was a monarch he was in parliament. He worked his way up to a high parliament official. Then when he took over he was a strong leader. Oliver accomplished many things and few failures. He helped make a democracy and helped make the Royal Navy. Over all I think that Oliver Cromwell was a very successful monarch that during the time period help England become a powerful nation.
